Dare to Dream JR: A Disney Musical Revue

A Magical Journey into the World of Theater!

Do you have a young performer who loves or wants to learn how to sing, dance, and act? Alton Little Theater is proud to present “Dare to Dream JR.”, a high-energy Disney musical revue where kids will bring their favorite Disney songs to life on stage!

This exciting program is more than just a show—it’s a comprehensive theater experience where participants will not only rehearse for a spectacular performance but also gain valuable skills in acting, singing, stage movement, technical theater and more.

Program Details:

  • Ages: Open to performers ages 8-17 (exceptions can be made for younger kids turning 8 soon)
  • Enrollment Fee: $250 per child
    • Helps pay for script & materials
    • Includes Show t-shirt
    • Theater workshop time in acting, singing, and stagecraft
  • Rehearsals:
    • Tuesdays – Thursdays: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
    • Sundays: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM (Some of this time will be dedicated to theater workshop)
    • Rehearsals will focus on staging, choreography, music, and theater education.
  • Show Dates: June 19-22

What Kids Will Learn:

  • Vocal Performance & Stage Presence: Learn how to project, breathe properly, and deliver confident performances.
  • Acting & Character Development: Understand the fundamentals of storytelling and how to bring characters to life.
  • Choreography & Movement: Gain confidence in stage movement and performance techniques.
  • Backstage & Technical Theater: Explore the behind-the-scenes magic, from lighting and sound to set and costume design.

Audition Preparation:

Please prepare 16-32 measures of a Disney song. (About one verse and the chorus)
Backing tracks (Karaoke tracks) are preferred. There will be no accompanist. We will provide a connected speaker.

Children may be asked to read a few lines or act out a scene.

Parents are ALWAYS welcome to attend auditions AND rehearsals.

Child Safety & Protocols at Alton Little Theater

At Alton Little Theater, the safety and well-being of our young performers are our top priorities. We are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where children can learn, grow, and shine on stage.

Supervised Environment – All rehearsals and performances are conducted under the supervision of experienced directors, staff, and volunteers.
Background-Checked Staff – All ALT directors, instructors, and key volunteers working with children undergo background checks.
Safe Drop-Off & Pick-Up Procedures – Parents/guardians must check in their child at the beginning of rehearsal and sign them out at the end. No child will be released without an approved adult present.
Respectful & Positive Learning Space – We promote a culture of kindness, respect, and teamwork among all cast and crew members.
Emergency Protocols – Our team is trained in basic first aid and emergency response procedures. Parents/guardians will be contacted immediately in case of illness or injury.
