Small Wonders of WONDERS: Alton Little Theater’s Big Comeback!
Alton Little Theater (ALT) is buzzing with excitement as a small miracle unfolds! Thanks to the incredible generosity and commitment of Mr. Eddie Shollar and Berco Construction of West Alton, repairs at ALT are being tackled head-on to ensure that The Exes can debut on its original dates: January 24th – February 2nd. Yes, you read that right—scratch the postponement, the show will go on!
Community Spirit at Its Best
Mr. Shollar and his hardworking crew are pulling out all the stops to complete critical repairs in just two weeks. Their unwavering commitment has shortened what could have been a lengthy “business interruption,” allowing the ALT community to get back to enjoying the performances they love. This rapid response means patrons will not only be treated to a hilarious show but also enjoy nine brand-new restrooms in the theater!
A Celebration of Generosity and Teamwork
Playwright Lenore Skomal is flying in to witness the magic of ALT’s comeback and the efforts of the outstanding cast and staff. This is truly a testament to the community’s resilience and the power of collaboration. ALT’s Board of Directors, led by Eric Sykes, Lee Cox, and Randy Manning, along with the dedicated seven-member cast of The Exes, rallied together and decided: “Why wait until March? Let’s go for it!”
A Note on Reconstruction
While some of the larger projects, like the parking lot and back sidewalks, will have to wait for warmer weather, ALT has already received incredible support through GoFundMe donations and contributions from community members. For now, the priority is ensuring the space is neat, welcoming, and ready for the upcoming performances.
Mark Your Calendars!
In addition to The Exes, ALT is rescheduling the January 4th concert to Saturday, March 15th at 2 PM. Renamed “Sing in the Love & Luck of ’25,” the concert will feature Thomas M. Taylor, who is thrilled to perform in ALT’s beautifully restored theater.
Tickets for all shows are available online at altonlittletheater.org or through the box office at 618-462-3205. The box office is open today (January 3rd) and aims to be fully operational next week, weather permitting.
A Heartfelt Thank You
ALT extends its deepest gratitude to Mr. Eddie Shollar for his vision, generosity, and swift action. His efforts have ensured that the theater remains a cherished space for the community. And yes, Mr. Shollar will have a seat saved for Opening Night of The Exes (January 24th at 7:30 PM), where patrons can personally thank him for making this happen.
