Alton Little Theater (ALT) has been a cornerstone of our community for over 90 years, bringing stories to life, nurturing local talent, and creating unforgettable memories for our audiences. Today, we find ourselves facing one of the most significant challenges in our long history: a completely unexpected catastrophic failure of our sewer system.
The Issue: Our aging sewer system, built with outdated Orangeburg pipes, has completely failed. The 150-foot line running under our parking lot to the main sewer system needs full replacement. This is no small repair—it requires tearing up and reconstructing large portions of our parking lot to access and replace the damaged pipes.
The Cost:
- Repairs: Estimated at $30,000 for excavation, replacement, and restoration.
- Lost Revenue: With necessary shutdowns for construction and safety, we anticipate losing an additional $20,000 in ticket sales, event revenue, and programming income. Community theaters operate on razor-thin margins, so your support is crucial at this time.
