CHANGES ARE A COMIN’ at the Alton Little Theater Showplace as the Oldest, Continuous Community Theater in Illinois ushers in the “Sparking” 91st Season!

YES, September 2024 – May 2025, there will be FIVE Mainstage Plays & Musicals and ANOTHER FIVE Concerts and Extra, EXTRA Entertainment Show mounted in Between – so there is something for everyone EVERY month next year!

Executive Director, Lee Cox says, “We are introducing NEW Directors, NEW Plays, Great Comedies, Musicals – and perennial Favorites!” She Continues, “Yes, we’re giving it our all – so our Community can be proud of the traditions of Live Theater which has brought joy to so many people!” The summer production of OLIVER brought 25 brand new talents to the stage and the production saw seven FULL houses!

And yes, the NEW Production Schedule for Mainstage Shows is FOUR Evening Performances at 7:30 pm on the first Friday, Saturday, Thursday, and Second Friday; THREE Matinees on both Sunday Shows and Second Saturday are being included now in the performance run to accommodate tour groups, seniors not wishing to drive at night, younger families and busy people who need options to switch performances (as Season Ticket holders). Evening performances are at 7:30 pm; Matinees at 2 pm. Plays are $22 for Adults/ $18 for Students under 18—Musicals are $27 (same discounts for students) – However, a Season Ticket can still be purchased in September for $90 AND patrons can come “try out” the September Comedy MAKING GOD LAUGH – and then trade in their ticket for only $68 to see three MORE Plays and a Musical! (still saving $25 in September!)

Cox says the 91st Season IS a Season of Sparkling Entertainment AND a great bargain, and she is so happy that playwrights across the Country contact ALT with news of new plays that bring special savings to the Season and ALLOW the Theater to then bring in BIG Musicals (having their 25th Anniversaries like ROCKY HORROR – the Musical and THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE! Kristi Doering, will also be giving audiences a special Holiday Treat in December with A Christmas Carol and Kristi Doering, Brant McCance, Gail Drillinger, Randy Manning, and Lee Cox will all be directing in the 91st Season – and Cox will also be coordinating The Studio Series (with two fabulous new plays by Donna Latham and George Bailey) and will showcase Concerts by Local and Regional Talents featuring Thomas Taylor, Eric Sykes, Bethany Timara, and a host of other popular singers, producing The Best of the Best Broadway, Bobby Darin & Friends, and a Salute to 2025!.

Volunteers who usher and help with Mailings earn FREE Tickets at ALT, and Program Advertisers and Business & Corporate Sponsors earn Full Color Ads and FREE SEASON TICKETS as well.

AUDITIONS are open to EVERYONE, and are posted on the Website Pull-down and ALT commits to no pre-casting (ever)! Yes, Dreams are made at ALT, and there is enough “Theater Magic” for everyone. Executive Director Lee Cox is active in other Community organizations and has a “Theater Thursdays” podcast at The Riverbender.com and also does monthly Commercials and Interviews with WBGZ – as part of the mission at ALT to Support LOCAL Businesses and Media outlets.
