Alton Little Theater: Celebrating 90 Years of Theater Magic!
In the heart of the Riverbend region, there’s a gem that has been gleaming brighter with each passing year – the Alton Little Theater (ALT). As we stand on the cusp of our 90th anniversary, we’re filled with immense pride and gratitude. From a humble dream conceived in 1933 to over 800 live performances today, ALT has grown into a beacon of art and culture for the Riverbend community.
A Glimpse Through History: In 1933, ALT was birthed from a young educator’s aspiration. This seemingly small vision went on to produce more than 800 theater plays, musicals, and concerts, creating an indelible mark in the world of performing arts.
Under the visionary leadership of Lee Cox and Kevin Frakes, ALT has not just been a theater; it’s evolved into a landmark. Drawing talent from across the mighty Mississippi, we’re proud to be the artistic haven for actors, musicians, dancers, and artists from 17+ municipalities.
The 90th Season: A Tribute to Dreams and Dreamers
As we usher in our 90th season, we want to create an homage to every individual who’s ever had the dream of performing. With a focus on celebrating both the raw talent of youth and the wisdom of mentors, we’ve lined up an array of productions and concerts. Our summer classes, especially designed for the youth, have seen overwhelming response and will now be a regular feature in our yearly roster.
But that’s not all!
In January 2024, brace yourself for ALT’s pioneering “Studio Series”. This unique initiative will showcase three captivating plays penned by renowned national artists. And here’s the twist – a versatile ensemble of up to twenty actors will take on the challenge of performing all three scripts consecutively within a span of 30 days!
Our goal has always been to offer unparalleled theatrical experiences. We believe in the transformative power of live theater – the joy, the tears, the reflections it can evoke are unmatched.
