Why OLIVER! Is a Must-See

Securing the rights to perform OLIVER! following its seventh Broadway revival in 2023 was a significant achievement for Alton Little Theater. Since its debut in London in 1960 and its Broadway premiere in 1963, OLIVER! has become a global favorite. The 1968 film adaptation won six Academy Awards and ten Tony nominations, catapulting the careers of stars like Phil Collins, Davey Jones, Ron Moody, Leonardo Whiting, and Patti LuPone.

Directed by Kevin Frakes, with musical direction by Mary Mahoney and choreography by Orcennio Gaines, our production of OLIVER! showcases the talents of 18 local youth and 13 seasoned adult performers. Executive Director Lee Cox, with help from Grand Ball Costumes of Charleston, IL, and Colleen Michelson of St. Louis, has created stunning costumes, properties, and lighting that bring the show to life.

Meet the Cast

Our cast features new talents such as Knox Schell (Oliver) and Finn Kane (Artful Dodger), alongside experienced performers Randy Manning (Fagin), Karie Preston (Nancy), and Larry Ingram (Bill Sykes). Audiences will be treated to memorable songs like “Where is Love,” “Food, Glorious Food,” “Who Will Buy,” “As Long as He Needs Me,” and 15 other musical numbers. The unique staging, energy, and joy of our production will leave you enchanted.

Timeless Themes

OLIVER! explores themes of social responsibility and the importance of caring for children, making it as relevant today as when it first premiered. Alton Little Theater is proud to bring this family-friendly, big Broadway musical to our River town with a big heart.
