Kids Camp at Alton Little Theater

A two-week, all-day theater camp for ages 6–16 ending with a full production of Annie JR!

Overview

Our Kids Camp is an immersive, hands-on theater experience where campers spend two weeks learning what it takes to bring a show to life, both onstage and behind the scenes. Campers will explore acting, singing and dancing while also getting exposure to technical theater, sets, costumes and more. The camp concludes with live performances of Annie JR!

Camp Dates and Times

  • Camp runs: June 1–11

  • Time: 9 a.m.–5 p.m. M-F

  • Ages: 6–16

  • Capacity: Only 50 spots available

Show Performances

Campers will perform Annie JR on:

  • June 12–14

What Campers Will Learn

Campers will get a well-rounded introduction to theater, including:

  • Acting and character work

  • Vocal performance and group singing

  • Dance and movement for the stage

  • Stage presence and storytelling

  • Intro to tech theater (lights, sound and backstage roles)

  • Set and prop work

  • Costume

  • Collaboration, confidence and teamwork

Auditions and Casting

All campers are welcome and everyone will be cast.
Auditions are held on the first day of camp so our team can place campers in roles that fit them best. Parts will be assigned after auditions and campers will begin rehearsals immediately.

Registration and Tuition

  • Early registration: $300 (begins March 15)

    • Discounted rates for additional children of the same family

      • 1st child: full price

      • 2nd child: $50 off

      • 3rd+ child: $75 off each

  • Spots: Limited to 50 campers

Tuition includes:

  • A camp/show T-shirt

  • Script and all show materials used during camp

  • Instruction, rehearsals and performance experience

Additional note: Some roles may require individual costume pieces (such as shoes or specific basics). We’ll communicate any potential costume needs once roles are assigned and we’ll always aim to keep additional costs minimal.

Who Can Attend

Kids Camp is open to all experience levels—whether your child is brand new to theater or already loves the spotlight. Our goal is for every camper to learn, grow and have an unforgettable experience.

This camp will be directed by Christine Taylor and Eric Sykes.
All volunteers are subject to a background check.
