Alton Little Theater (ALT) is thrilled to announce the opening of its 91st season with the heartwarming and hilarious family comedy, “Making God Laugh.” Directed by the talented Kristy Doering, this charming production promises to deliver 30 years of dysfunction and fun, all set in one wonderful home where holiday food and mom’s famous “dip” are central to the comedic antics.

About the Play

“Making God Laugh” follows the lives of a typical family over three decades, capturing the ups and downs, joys, and challenges that come with the passage of time. The story is a beautiful blend of humor and heart, making it a must-see for audiences of all ages.

Call for Auditions

Director Kristy Doering, known for her work at AHS, is seeking five exceptional actors who have a passion for comedy and can bring this delightful story to life. The roles available include:

• Mom and Dad (ages 40-65): These roles require actors who can portray the loving yet sometimes exasperated heads of the family, navigating through years of family dynamics.
• Three “Kids” (early 20s to 40s): These roles are for actors who can depict the transition from youthful exuberance to adulthood, all while maintaining the comedic elements of their characters.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, July 20th at 10 AM with cold readings from the script. Rehearsals will begin at the end of July or the very beginning of August. Kristy Doering will be looking for a family that can age gracefully and quickly over the span of 30 years. And did we mention that there’s LOTS of eating on stage? What fun!
