Alton Little Theater Brings Love and Charm to February with Two Special Productions
This February, Alton Little Theater (ALT) is set to chase away the winter blues with two heartwarming productions that promise to delight audiences in the Riverbend region.
Country Love
First up, get ready to immerse yourself in the soulful sounds of country music with “Country Love.” Produced by the talented Lee Cox, this unique event will take place on Saturday, February 10th at 7:30 pm and Sunday, February 11th at 2 pm in the charming Dorothy Colonius Foyer.
Audiences will be treated to musical selections from seven local artists, including Lisa Rosenstock, Kathy Piercy, Margery Handy, James Cummings, Corrine Jones, Shea Maples, Lorian Warford, and possibly a surprise guest. This lineup will surely captivate everyone with their renditions of favorite country hits.
But that’s not all. In addition to the music, ALT Board members will be serving up plates of Chocolate Dreams, complemented by free champagne and hot chocolate. And in a fun twist, guests will have the chance to vote for their favorite singer or duo. The performer with the highest score on Sunday will be awarded $500, courtesy of a secret donation made to ALT.
With only 50 tickets available for each performance at $25 each (including all refreshments and libations), this is an exclusive event you won’t want to miss!
The Four Poster
Following the country music extravaganza, ALT’s Artistic Director, Kevin Frakes, presents the charming love story, “The Four Poster,” from February 16th through February 25th. This delightful play, which inspired the musical “I Do, I Do!” and the movie “Same Time Next Year,” stars regional talents Carolyn Bergdolt and Alex Trepka.
Set between 1898 and 1925, “The Four Poster” brings to life a bygone era with vintage costumes, gaslights, and a host of antique props and decor. Kevin Frakes has even lent his woodworking talents to build the famous bed and other set pieces, adding an authentic touch to this enchanting production.
Individual tickets are available for $22, and this is a part of the mainstage season you certainly don’t want to miss. For those interested, interviews with Kevin Frakes can be arranged to learn more about this fascinating project.
Looking Ahead
And don’t forget, right around the corner, ALT will announce its fabulous 91st Season on March 1st. Advance Tickets go on sale during the March premiere of “Alabama Story”.
February might be short, but ALT is never short on delivering top-notch entertainment. Whether you’re a fan of country music, love stories, or both, ALT has something special in store for you this month. Come and join us for these wonderful productions and celebrate the art of performance in the heart of the Riverbend region!
