The
Alton Little Theater
has been entertaining audiences with quality productions continuously,
since 1934. This makes Alton Little Theater one of the oldest
community theaters in the state of Illinois! Alton Little Theater
is a non-for-profit, volunteer-based community theater located
in Alton, IL.
For having
presented theater for 75 years, ALT is among the oldest, active
community theaters in the nation. This 75 year old group has
approximately 125 members and produces five to six full length
plays and musicals each year.
Our membership, as well as our audtions, are open. The only
requirements for membership are that you are 17 years of age
or older and you pay $25.00 annual dues. Our general meetings
are held at the Showplace on the third Monday of each month
at 7:30 p.m. Volunteers are needed to perform, build sets, work
with lights and sound, costumes, box office, ushering, and fund-raising.

Alton Little
Theater's membership is proud of their award from the Illinois
Theater Association. ALT was selected for the Outstanding Community
Theater of the Year 2000 in the State of Illinois. One hundred
twenty-five members volunteer their time, expertise, and labor
to bring the best theater they can to the community. ALT feels
this award truly reflects it's love of the theater and it's
efforts to bring 1,300 season ticket holders the best live theater
around.
Alton Little
Theater has always felt it's season ticket holders and patrons
deserve nothing but the best, and now they are getting it from
the acknowledged, by receiving this distinguished award. Come
